WHAT
NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international hackathon in cities around the globe, where teams engage with NASA’s free and open data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space. In a 48-hour sprint, participants hack solutions to challenges that NASA proposes, creating games, computer apps, videos, teaching tools, and more. Space Apps is a NASA-led initiative organized in collaboration with Booz Allen Hamilton, Mindgrub and SecondMuse.
HOW
Space Apps gives you the opportunity to bring projects to life for a wide range of applications. Greek NewSpace Society organizes Space Apps in Thessaloniki and Piraeus, Greece, and invites all curious and enthusiastic problem solvers, regardless of their backgrounds, to join the challenge and experience, experiment, and explore solutions to our universe’s biggest challenges. Grab the chance and bring your team in or let us do the mix & matching, and tackle a challenge using robotics, data visualisation, hardware, design and many other specialties.
WHO
Space Apps embraces collaborative problem solving. If you are a scientist, a coder, a designer, a data analyst, a storyteller, a maker, a technologist, or just a space enthusiast, that’s the right place for YOU!
NASA Space Apps Challengers
"Concluding, my advice would be that the sooner participating in a hackathon, the better! However, whatever the age, be open-minded and acceptable of the situation! That is how we grow!"
"It was an incredible opportunity to work with people of different specialties and age groups with the common goal of completing an idea so quickly. With the completion of the NASA Space Apps Challenge and this beautiful collaboration with the other members of the team, I finally realized how right Buzz Lightyear was with the well-known phrase 'To infinity and beyond'."
“The NASA Space Apps Challenge was an exciting experience for me, a transformation of science into art! Through this tranformation, I was able to expand my field of knowledge, make new friends with common interests, goals and aspirations."
"The ROI of such an event is high and highly depends on you. I had the chance to work on a unique project, meet charismatic people, and challenge myself in multiple ways."
"I believe it is a wonderful opportunity to apply one's creativity and unique skills, while also expanding their knowledge and network."
"The competition has a variety of challenges. Regardless your background, you can participate as long as you want to collaborate and find creative and innovative solutions."
